Distinguished Alumnus Jonathan Ware

Jonathan Ware:

Having participated in the second jonathanwarecaptureMcKinney Young Artist Competition in 1999, I am delighted to see the legacy of this wonderful organization continue! The competition is designed to be an inspiration both to the competitors and the community; this focus is exceptional in the competition world. I was inspired by the opening concert, challenged by the masterclass session, and spurred on to continue music as my calling when named a Grand Prize winner. Above all, the competition affords a warm safe environment to its young performers and an investment in its participants that extends long after the weekend is over. It was during the competition weekend that my family received the diagnosis that my father had advanced, terminal cancer. In this midst of this very bad news, the warmth and support of organizers Mary Humm and Karen Austin was palpable and went above and beyond. In the midst of that dark news, the McKinney Young Artist Competition was a very bright beacon, and that support extended throughout the reminder of my high school career.

I hope you will consider a generous donation to this organization, which will be joined on September 22, North Texas Giving Day!
